ZTE AXON 40 Pro

The ZTE AXON 40 series came to the public eye on May 9 and two devices made up the launch event. These two devices are the AXON 40 Pro and the AXON 40 Ultra. Both devices are unique in their ways, and also retail at different price points. Let’s take a look at the ZTE AXON 40 Pro specs, features, design, and price.

ZTE AXON 40 Pro specs and features

ZTE AXON 40 Pro

The AXON 40 Pro is the cheaper device that graced ZTE’s launch event. By using the term “cheaper” it doesn’t imply that this device doesn’t come with up to standard specs. The Pro variant is just not as powerful as the Ultra model. It still has amazing specs and is more affordable, hence might appeal to a larger user market. Here are the specs of the device:

  • Screen: 6.67 inches AMOLED with a 90.4% screen-to-body ratio. It supports high refresh rates at 144Hz.
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G
  • Storage: 8GB and 12GB RAM with a 256GB and 512GB internal storage. The device has the following storage configurations: 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB.
  • Main Camera: Quad camera setup, with a 100MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.
  • Front Camera: 16MP front-facing camera.
  • Battery: 5000mAh battery with 66W fast charge.
  • Operating System: MyOS 12, based on Android 12.
  • Biometrics: On-screen fingerprint scanner.

The ZTE AXON 40 Pro comes with a dot-in screen display, and it doesn’t have a similar design to the AXON 40 Ultra. The rear cameras on this device come in two large circular cutouts, with one above the other. One of these circular cutouts houses the 100MP sensor, which is the 1st of its kind in a ZTE device. The second cutout houses the two other camera sensors, the last camera sensor is placed on the rectangular camera bump.

ZTE AXON 40 Pro price and availability

The launch of these devices took place in China, there might be a global launch of the ZTE AXON 40 Pro. In the meantime, this device exists only in China and will go on sale on May 24. The pricing of this device will range from 2998 yuan to 3798 yuan (~ $446-$565).

The AXON 40 Pro will retail based on its storage variants:

  • 8GB/128GB – ¥2,998 (~$446)
  • 12GB/256GB – ¥3,298 (~$491)
