Zeekr released a statement today saying that no one was on board at the time of the incident and the fire did not cause any casualties, initially ruling out that the power battery caused the accident.
Zeekr said, “In response to the fire in the vehicle, we attach great importance to it, and relevant staff have rushed to the scene at the first opportunity to assist users with insurance reporting and providing mobility scooters while reporting to public security, fire and other relevant departments.”
Zeekr said, according to the information currently available, when the fire occurred, the vehicle’s power battery is in a safe state, no thermal runaway, initially ruled out that the power battery caused the accident. The situation at the scene after the fire showed that only the front spare compartment of the vehicle was overcooked, and the passenger compartment, chassis and power battery remained intact. We will actively cooperate with the fire service in their investigation work, and the cause of the accident will be determined by the investigation results of the relevant agencies.

Information note on the overfire incident in the Xi’an vehicle
On 20 April 2023, a fire occurred in the Yanta District of Xi’an involving Zeekr 001. No one was on board at the time of the incident and the fire did not cause any injuries. In response to the fire, we attached great importance to the incident and our staff rushed to the scene at the earliest opportunity to assist the user in filing an insurance report and providing a mobility scooter, as well as reporting the incident to public security, fire and other relevant departments.
According to the information available so far, when the fire occurred, the vehicle’s power battery was in a safe state, no thermal runaway occurred, and the power battery was initially excluded from causing the accident. The situation at the scene after the fire showed that only the front compartment of the vehicle was on fire, and the passenger compartment, chassis and power battery parts were intact.
We will actively cooperate with the fire service in the investigation and the cause of the accident will be subject to the results of the investigation by the relevant agencies.
