Yet another M car from BMW to celebrate 50 years of M division

50 years of BMW’s M divisio

BMW’s M division completed 50 years this year and it seems that the company does not want to restrict the celebration of this feat by launching just a single new vehicle in that division. Just last week we had BMW launching the first official M3 Touring wagon. When the wagon was being revealed at Goodwood, BMW did let the audience catch a hint that it would launch another special M car towards the end of this year.

New M Car: looks

Probably this is the same M Hommage car we heard the company talk about last month. This would be a purpose-built vehicle with a design that would have a thrust on aerodynamics. We can expect the car to carry yellow Matrix headlights. It may also carry some adjustable bits like the anti-roll bars and shock absorbers. The car is also expected to run on lightweight wheels. Though the car would carry an overall splendid look, it would be far-fetched to expect wild wings or side-exit exhaust pipes on the car.

It won’t be too odd to consider the new M car as a more piping version of the M4 CSL. The car would carry a heavy dose of upgrades and would even include active aero bits.

M Hommage: specifications

If we go by the rumours that have been doing rounds, the new M car would draw 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 516 pound-feet (700 Newton-meters) of torque. The car is expected to race to an optimum speed of 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) from naught in 3.5 seconds. Chances that the car would have an all-wheel drive option seem slim as that would add some weight to the car.

The high performance category of BMW’s M division manufactures cars that are fully developed and engineered for performance-obsessed drivers. It’s a standard set too high by BMW for other car manufacturers to achieve. When it launches, the M Hommage is expected to carry a price tag of euro 600,000.
