Xiaomi’s first car spy photos: a coupe design, is expected to be mass production in 2024

January 5 news, near the Xiaomi Technology Park, some netizens photographed a suspected Xiaomi car, the body is plastered with camouflage paint, but from the model to see the coupe model, the appearance of some like Porsche Paramela, and equipped with LIDAR.

In this regard, NetEase Technology asked the official Xiaomi, but as of press time has not yet responded.

The two pictures circulated on the net, one near the residential building and one near the Xiaomi Science and Technology Park. The body is painted with camouflage paint, but still, the model can be seen as a coupe model, with LIDAR.

According to previous media reports, Xiaomi’s first car, internally codenamed MS11, may be equipped with 800V technology, equipped with a 260kW electric bridge, and is expected to be officially mass-produced in January 2024. The first engineering vehicle is reported to have rolled off the production line on September 28, 2022.

In the third quarter of 2022 earnings conference call, Wang Xiang, then president of Xiaomi Group, said that Xiaomi’s goal of achieving mass production of intelligent electric vehicles by the first half of 2024 was progressing well and that the number of Xiaomi’s tram R&D team was now over 1,800, with the company’s total investment in car manufacturing in the first three quarters being 1.86 billion yuan.

But then there were rumors that the development project of Xiaomi’s car was not progressing as expected, and some of the things to be delivered in the definition were delayed due to various factors. This exposure of the painted car can be a good response to this news.

In March 2021, Xiaomi officially announced its entry into the electric car industry, with an expected investment of $10 billion over ten years. Lei Jun has said: “This is the last major venture in my life. I am willing to bet my entire reputation in life and personally lead the team for Xiaomi car.”

It is understood that the Xiaomi Auto project has settled in Beijing Economic Development Zone to build the Xiaomi Auto headquarters base and sales headquarters and R&D headquarters, and will build a vehicle factory with an annual output of 300,000 units in two phases, of which the first and second phases have a capacity of 150,000 units respectively, and the first vehicle is expected to roll off the line and achieve mass production in 2024.

Lei Jun has asked netizens on social media to choosing what price they think the first Xiaomi car should be. The voting results show that fans want Xiaomi to make mid- to high-end cars, so the price range of Xiaomi’s first car is RMB 100,000-300,000.
