The official microblog of Xiaomi announced today that the third online hackathon of Xiaomi Group has been successfully concluded. The project “MiGu Xiaomi Headband” won the first prize in the event.

According to Xiaomi, the biggest highlight of MiGu Xiaomi Headband is that it can control smart home and monitor fatigue driving through brain waves. The engineers of the project said they hope to let people enjoy a more convenient smart life with a more natural way of interaction.

According to the engineer team, there are three points in the MiGu Xiaomi headband where electrical signals can be obtained. Using the difference in electrical potential between the points, the MiGu Xiaomi headband can roughly read the user’s EEG situation.

It is worth mentioning that people will produce different EEG waveforms in different emotional states. The engineer team trains the MiGu headband to recognize different brain waves through manual labeling. In this way, the MiGu Xiaomi headband will allow users to control their smart homes using brain waves and also detect fatigue driving based on brain waves.

As the winning entry in Xiaomi’s online hackathon, it is uncertain whether the MiGu Xiaomi headband can be commercialized. But Xiaomi released the MiGu glasses camera, also a wearable device, yesterday. The camera is equipped with a 1X-15X periscope dual camera with second-level rush capture and a crowdfunding price of 2,499 yuan.
