According to “Late Auto”, Xiaomi’s first achievement in the field of intelligent networked vehicles has been determined to be a sedan and will use the lidar developed by Hesai Technology, with a price ceiling higher than 300,000 yuan.
Xiaomi Lei Jun launched a round of Xiaomi car price voting on Weibo last year. As a result, nearly 7 adults of the 17,000 voters hoped that Xiaomi’s first car should not exceed 150,000 yuan, and nearly 1 adult hoped that it would be more than 300,000 yuan, which shows that Xiaomi users cannot afford the price of 300,000 yuan.
At the Xiaomi press conference in August, Lei Jun said that Xiaomi has invested 3.3 billion yuan in R&D in the first phase of autonomous driving, and established a top R&D team with over 500 people. At the same time, through wholly-owned mergers and acquisitions and industrial investment in upstream and downstream enterprises and other means to promote the medium and long-term industrial layout in the field of autonomous driving. This shows that Xiaomi has invested heavily in this field, and it is difficult to lower the cost of the first model.
According to “Late Auto”, the specific lidar configuration of Xiaomi’s first model is one Hesai hybrid solid-state radar AT128 as the main radar, and several Hesai all-solid-state radars are used as blind-filling radars.
Lei Jun previously said that Xiaomi’s first car will be delivered in the first half of 2024.
According to 36 Krypton, Xiaomi’s first car is planned to have two configurations, high and low. The low-profile model plans to use a 400V voltage platform, and the high-profile model plans to use an 800V voltage platform. The low-profile models will be equipped with Fudi’s lithium iron phosphate blade battery, while High-end models will be equipped with CATL Kirin batteries.
The Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee signed a cooperation agreement with Xiaomi in November last year, officially announcing that Xiaomi Auto will be located in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. In addition, Xiaomi Auto was also registered in Beijing on September 1 last year, and the first factory will be located in Beijing.
