The latest flagship phone of Xiaomi’s Poco brand, will be released globally on May 9, but the series of new phones have been announced in advance on Xiaomi’s UAE official website, including Poco F5 and Poco The specifications and appearance of the two F5 Pro models, the only thing that has not been announced is the price, which may not be announced until tomorrow’s press conference.
The Poco F5 Pro is a high-end phone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and available in three memory combinations. The machine is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi K60 that Xiaomi launched in China, but with Google services and a slightly reduced battery capacity, so it can be counted as an entirely new device.
The Poco F5 Pro’s screen is a 6.67-inch AMOLED material with a resolution of WQHD+, or 3200 x 1440 pixels, and a pixel density of 526ppi, the highest among Poco phones. The screen also supports a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 480Hz. There is also a fingerprint reader under the screen, and the surface is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
There are three cameras on the rear of the machine, which are a 64-megapixel main camera with Omnivision OV64B sensor, f/1.8 aperture and 6P lens; an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a viewing angle of 120 degrees; 2-megapixel macro camera Camera. This set of cameras supports optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilization, which are features not commonly found in Poco phones and are more attractive for users who like to take pictures. The front-facing camera is 16-megapixel, placed in the central screen hole, and supports up to 1080p video recording.
The new machine uses a 5000 square millimeter LiquidCool VC cooling system, which is a mixture of stainless steel vacuum chamber vapor chamber and graphite layer, which can improve thermal conductivity by 15% compared with previous Poco F series phones.
The battery capacity of the Poco F5 Pro is 5160 mAh, which is lower than the 5500 mAh of the Redmi K60, but it maintains 67W wired fast charging and 30W wireless fast charging. The operating system is MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
The Poco F5 Pro is available in white and black in the UAE, with a carbon-fiber-like design element on the back cover, and three options for memory and storage: 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB, or 12/512 GB.
The Poco F5 is a mid-range phone that uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip with 256 GB of storage and RAM options of 8 GB or 12 GB. The Poco F5’s screen is still a 6.67-inch AMOLED material, and the refresh rate is the same as the F5 Pro, but the resolution is only 1080p. The rear camera is also a combination of 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel, but there is no mention of the Omnivision sensor, indicating that the main camera may be weaker than the Pro version. However, this phone also retains optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilization, and the front camera is also 16 million pixels.
The phone features a thin and light design, with Poco claiming it weighs just 181 grams and is just 7.9mm thick. The Poco F5 has a 5,000mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. Other features include MIUI 14 based on Android 13, NFC, IR blaster, NFC and Bluetooth 5.3. The specs look familiar, as the phone is essentially a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo.
The official website of Xiaomi UAE shows that this phone is available in three colors: black, blue and white, of which white is the main color, using the “two-color gradient offset printing” technology to imitate the style of Frost.
Tomorrow’s global launch of the Poco F5 series will reveal more details and price information.
