Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 design leaked, model codenamed “zizhan”

Xiaomi is anticipated to launch its new foldable phone by the end of the year. For the year 2022, foldable will be a recurring theme. We anticipate seeing much more of them in the following months. Xiaomi has already made forays into the foldable space with handsets such as the Mi Mix Fold. To be fair, Xiaomi’s foldable is pursuing a more laidback refresh cycle than the company’s glass slab releases, which makes sense. Despite the fact that the Mi Mix Fold has been on the market for more than a year, there is still little information available on what the next foldable phone will look like. However, we may now have a better idea of what it will look like.

XDA Senior Member Kacskrz recently discovered the graphical assets within the latest MIUI China builds. It appears to depict a foldable that is distinct from the Mi Mix Fold.

Kacskrz has shared additional information about MIUI China releases that he discovered. “Zizhan” is the codename of the alleged Xiaomi foldable. In addition, code within MIUI suggests that “zizhan” will share a display panel with “umi,”. “Umi” is the codename for the Mi 10 smartphone.

Design speculation for “zizhan” Xiaomi foldable

Twitter source of the design

There are a few different angles and folded states of an undisclosed Xiaomi device in this animation file. There are some differences, however, including the fact that the camera bump on the back of the phone is a square with rounded corners. In comparison, Mi Mix Fold has a rectangular bump. This could imply that Xiaomi is attempting to keep the camera setup more practical rather than as cutting-edge as on the Mi Mix Fold. It is potentially positioning this next foldable as a more general mass-market product than the previous foldable.

On the outside of the screen, we can also see the cutout camera. The inner screen is completely devoid of cameras. This suggests that Xiaomi is sticking to its decision to not include any cameras on the interior display at all.

“Zizhan” will share a display panel with MI 10 models. Since the Mi 10 is a glass slab flagship, we assume that the outer screen on the foldable is the same panel like the one used on the Mi 10 flagship. Furthermore, this indicates that the cover display will be an FHD+ panel running at 90Hz with probable HDR 10+ support.
