Xiaomi is also working on a phone with 200MP sensor; rumours

Motorola has recently shared an image from its upcoming 200MP camera smartphone. It’s looking like they are not the only brand that is currently working on a 200MP camera sensor on their smartphones. We have now got another piece of information claiming that the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is also working on a phone with a 200MP camera sensor.

Xiaomi to also join queue to launch smartphone with a 200MP camera?

Known tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo has shared a post claiming that Motorola isn’t the only company working on a phone with a 200MP camera, there is a phone on the way with a 200MP sensor, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a 120Hz display and a 5,000mAh battery. Even though he didn’t explicitly mention the name of the device of the brand, rumours are saying that it’s no other than the upcoming Xiaomi 12T Pro.

The device could be released as either the Xiaomi 12T Pro or the Redmi K50S Pro. We still don’t have any official word on this, and the marketing name may change depending on where you live. In terms of sensors, we currently have two 200MP camera sensors coming from the house of Samsung.

The Samsung ISOCELL Bright HM1 and HM3 both support 200MP image output, but the optical format and pixel size differ – 1/1.22″ and 0.64m and 1/1.4″ and 0.56m, respectively. The ISOCELL HP1 has a larger sensor and is expected to perform better in photography and videography than the HM3. Motorola chose a better Samsung ISOCELL Bright HM1 sensor, and Xiaomi is expected to do the same because the HP1 is designed for Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 flagships.
