Xiaomi Redmi India official tweet announced that Xiaomi has shipped 200 million smartphones in India, reaching a new milestone.

Xiaomi also said it has released 15 5G smartphones in the Indian market in the past year, preparing for the country’s 5G era.

Xiaomi phones landed in the Indian market in 2014 and announced shipments exceeding 100 million in 2019, which took five years, while it took only three years to break 200 million.

On July 15, Xiaomi India announced a new head of the company, Mew (zhuó) promoted COO Muralishnan to president of the company, who will be responsible for day-to-day operations, services, public affairs and strategic projects. The appointment will take effect on August 1, 2022.

But Xiaomi has also run into some problems in India. In May this year, Indian law enforcement authorities seized assets belonging to Xiaomi Technologies India Private Limited of about 4.8 billion yuan, claiming that the Xiaomi subsidiary had violated the Foreign Exchange Management Act by illegally sending money to foreign institutions.
