Xiaomi car appearance details leaked, official response said it was not the final document

Recently a set of Xiaomi car first model of the external cladding pictures was exposed, mainly showing the vehicle’s front and rear design details. From the pictures, the front of the new car uses a trapezoidal front grille, both sides of the fog lamp area is also designed to resemble the shape of the air inflow slot, the headlights are more rounded shape.

In this regard, Xiaomi Group’s general manager of public relations Wang Hua just responded on Weibo, saying that this is indeed a confidential design file leak from a secondary supplier, but the supplier is only a supplier for mold proofing, and the leaked file is a design draft from a very early bidding process, not a final file.

In other words, the leaked pictures of the outer cladding show is not the final design of the Xiaomi car.

The leak also shows that the car’s welded air ducts, side air duct trim covers, lower rear bumper trim strip, lower air intake grille, etc., all come from BAIC Moulding. BAIC Moulding is a joint venture between BAIC subsidiary Hainachuan and Jiangnan Moulding, of which Hainachuan is the parts industry platform of BAIC Group and Jiangnan Moulding is one of the largest production bases for exterior products such as bumper assemblies in China.

According to LatePost previously reported, Xiaomi’s first car positioned medium-sized slide-back sedan, internal code name Modena Modena. According to Xiaomi’s official car manufacturing schedule previously released to the public, its first model is expected to be officially mass-produced in the first half of 2024.
