From the industrial and commercial information, Xiaomi Automobile Co., Ltd. and Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. were established in 2021, with registered capital of 10 billion yuan and 1 billion yuan respectively.
In August 2022, Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, revealed in his annual speech that Xiaomi Autonomous Driving was going to be full-stack self-researching and had formed a team of 500 people and planned to expand to 600 people by the end of 2022, with the goal of entering the first rank of the autonomous driving industry in 2024. The financial report shows that Xiaomi invested 829 million yuan in innovative businesses, including automobiles, in the third quarter of 2022, and Xiaomi’s car research and development team has exceeded 1,800 people.
The company’s first car will roll off the production line in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone in 2024 and achieve mass production.
Lei Jun said at the plenary meeting of the Beijing group that Xiaomi’s car manufacturing has progressed beyond expectations under the high level of concern and support from leaders, has recently successfully completed winter testing, and is expected to achieve mass production in the first half of next year.
