DXOMARK today announced that the Xiaomi 12S Ultra image test results are officially released. Xiaomi 12S Ultra scored 138 points in the DXOMARK image test and entered the top 5 of the DXOMARK global image ranking. Among the sub-items, the photo score is 144, the zoom score is 96, and the video score is 113.
DXOMARK says that the Xiaomi 12S Ultra offers two color rendering modes, Leica Classic and Leica Vivid, and the image quality in both modes was found to be very similar in the test. The choice of mode is purely a matter of personal preference, so the two imaging styles do not affect the final DXOMARK score.
DXOMARK listed advantages
- Good exposure for landscapes, cityscapes and portraits in a variety of conditions between high and very low light
- Fairly wide dynamic range in both photos and video
- Photo autofocus is accurate in all lighting conditions
- There is an excellent balance between texture retention and image noise
- Image color rendering is interesting, with the two Leica modes offering different color renderings but similar image quality
- Good image quality at long zoom distances
Deficiencies listed by DXOMARK
- Some exposure and HDR rendering instability in different scenes
- No zero shutter lag in all HDR conditions and low-light conditions, with measured delays longer than 0.3 seconds
- Unstable focus and exposure when using a telephoto camera
- Noise in HDR scenes, even under good lighting conditions
- Occasional low contrast and vignetting in backlit scenes, especially with dark tones or sepia skin
- No HDR in preview mode, what you see is not what you get

So this time it is likely that DXOMARK will purchase the phone for testing on its own.
The company said it would not send DXOMARK to test the Xiaomi 12S series, but DXOMARK then said it would provide a diversified form of evaluation, not only for the prototypes sent by manufacturers to provide product evaluation reports but also for a variety of models released on the market to conduct the active quality evaluation. DXOMARK says that for the evaluation results of the prototypes sent for testing, it will also retest the commercial machines after they are released for calibration.
