Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept launched with a detachable LEICA M-Series lens

The all-new Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept is the Chinese smartphone maker’s device with a focus on professional photography. Together with Leica, Xiaomi was able to pull through with the launch of this device that attaches to a detachable lens to further improve its photography. With this device, photographers can let go of their professional cameras and use the new concept 12S Ultra to take pictures that are up to standard.

Xiaomi via their Weibo channel called this device a “fusion product of dual personalities,” a rich blend between a smartphone and a camera. Together with the massive 1-inch lens on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept, the compatible Leica M-series lens helps take photography to another level. A closer look at this concept device might make one feel that Xiaomi swapped the 1-inch Sony lens on its standard version for another lens. The company has made no statement as to the type of lens the new concept photography device uses, so one can’t make any conclusions.

By adding a detachable lens to the concept device, Xiaomi can adjust the image focus on the variable camera aperture to improve photography abilities. Well, this is a concept device and Xiaomi is aiming at showcasing the numerous possibilities in store with its flagship smartphone series. A good number of executives at Xiaomi also took to their social media pages to share images of this concept device with the compatible Leica M-series lens.

With the next-generation Xiaomi Ultra smartphone, we can expect to see some improvements to the device’s camera system. Possibly, we might see the introduction of a variable aperture to the coming flagship device, just like what we have on the Huawei Mate 50 series. Xiaomi is breaking new ground with the camera abilities on their devices.
