Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro Revealed With A New Processor

After the launch of the Xiaomi 12 series, the company is going on to launch the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro. This new series coming from Xiaomi will consist of two devices. The full specs and launch date of these devices are not yet out, but we can be sure that they will step up the performance of the 12 series. How can we be so sure of this?

Information gathered on these two devices shows that they will both use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus Chip (SM8475). The Snapdragon chip to be used on these devices is to use the TSMC 4 nm fabrication process. The readily available Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip as seen on most devices already like the Xiaomi 12 series also uses the same TSMC fabrication process. This doesn’t mean that the two chips will have the same abilities, as the Snapdragon 888 and 888+ chips were different when looking at performance.

The Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro are codenamed diting and unicorn respectively and are targeted for the Chinese region as proven by available intel. At the moment there is no statement as to the specification of the expected devices, but we can be sure that they will be similarly speced with the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. When speaking of camera abilities, the Xiaomi 12 Pro features a triple 50MP camera setup and a 32MP selfie camera. It has a 4600mAh battery that supports fast charging at 120W, fast wireless charging at 50W, and fast reverse-charge at 10W. These few specs of the Xiaomi 12 Pro can and should give us a little insight into what features the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro will come bundled with.

The only change to the already existing 12 series devices with these expected devices might be the chips used. We can’t be sure of this yet, but we’ll keep an eye out for more information regarding these devices.
