Xiaomi 12 Ultra might be the first devices to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+

Xiaomi’s flagship line always has a rich taste, the company does this by providing a highly speced variant to battle the competition. Over the years they have stuck to this tradition and this year the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will carry on from where its predecessors left off. Similarly to the Mi11 Ultra launched last year, this year’s Ultra model will use the best Android chip available in the semiconductor market. From leaked images and specs, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will have very impressive specs and a unique design, as did the Mi11 Ultra.

Currently, the available flagship processor from Qualcomm is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. But we know that Qualcomm is working on a maxed-out version of the 8 Gen 1 processor. This maxed-out version is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ and leakers expect this to be the processor that will be in the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. If this expectation comes to reality, then Xiaomi will be one of the first Android smartphone manufacturing companies to use this chipset. This will mean an improvement in camera abilities, gaming power, and efficiency, hence placing this device at the top of the pecking order in the Android smartphone hierarchy.

From exposed image renderings of the 12 Ultra, we can confirm the presence of a large camera module! This module is even larger than that seen on the Mi11 Ultra. It has a circular design and triple camera setup alongside a few other sensors on the camera island. From leaked specs, this device will have the main camera, a super-telephoto lens, and a periscope lens. This camera setup will support OIS and 5x optical zoom, with a capacity of up to 100x zoom. Xiaomi will co-design the camera lens on this device with Leica, so we can expect a bit of Huawei finish to the imagery it produces.

The launch date and actual specs of this device remain unknown. Taking the launch date of the Mi11 Ultra into consideration, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra might just be behind schedule.
