If Microsoft successfully acquires Activision Blizzard, PS players don’t have to worry about missing out on any Call of Duty content. Recently, Xbox boss Phil Spencer stated that if Microsoft acquires the “Call of Duty” series of games, it will provide complete and functionally identical content on all platforms.
In an interview with Xbox On recently, Phil Spencer was asked if he planned to provide exclusive content to Xbox players after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. “When we say available everywhere or not exclusive, we want to make the absolute best version of Call of Duty for any player on any platform,” Spencer said.
“I saw a game that just came out, Legacy of Hogwarts. It’s a great game, but there’s a quest that’s a PlayStation exclusive, and you can’t play it on the Xbox. That’s not what we wanted.”
However, Spencer also admitted that exclusive content is “part of the game industry”, but with “Call of Duty”, Xbox does not want gun skins or certain game modes to be exclusive to Xbox.
Spencer said that what Xbox wants to do is provide games with “the same content” for all platforms, noting that this is why Xbox is already doing multi-platform games. “If you’re a PS player of Minecraft, I don’t think you’ll feel like you’re playing an inferior version,” he hopes to ensure that players will have an excellent experience on any platform.
It is worth mentioning that both Sony and Xbox have won exclusive content for “Call of Duty” for their consoles earlier. Once Xbox players got the “Call of Duty” DLC one month ahead of PS players, and recently the PS version of “Call of Duty 19” has exclusive content. If Microsoft succeeds in acquiring Activision Blizzard, it seems that this practice will come to an end.
