Wine is currently pushing forward with version updates on a 2-week cycle, and today officially launched Wine 8.9 update. This version update focuses on the introduction of the third round of Wine Wayland code.
Wine Wayland can run a variety of Windows applications natively on Wayland without the use of X11 / XWayland, and the code has been upstreamed.
Wine 8.9 has also migrated to the Mono 8.0 engine and has included the following improvements:
Mono engine upgraded to version 8.0.0.
PE conversion is done in PostScript driver.
DirectSound adds Doppler support.
Improved GdiPlus performance.
Fix various bugs.
