Windows 11 taskbar’s context menu welcomes the return of Task Manager

The recent Windows 11 preview is good news for those who want an easier way to access Task Manager. The first version of Windows 11, launched nearly two years ago, moved the Task Manager’s context menu shortcut from the taskbar to the Start menu. It goes without saying that some people were confused when looking for the application, so the feedback in this regard is more than evident.

Users want the Task Manager back in the taskbar, and in the latest Windows 11 preview, that’s exactly

“Based on your feedback, we’ve added the Task Manager to the context menu when you right-click on the taskbar. Let us know what you think!” The company said. However, keep in mind that this feature is currently part of the Windows Insider program, and it will be a while before the new changes generally start to be pushed out.

Microsoft says this release also comes with improvements to the system tray, which now allows users to rearrange icons.

“This release includes initial support for rearranging icons in the system tray for Insiders who have the System Tray Update, which is rolling out from Build 25197. Further improvements to this experience are coming soon. As a reminder, these system tray updates are still being rolled out and are not yet available to all insiders. If your computer doesn’t have these changes, your system tray experience will remain the same as before,” the company explained.

Last but not least, according to the official changelog, Microsoft is also fixing date and time errors that have appeared on some devices.

Microsoft said, “We are starting to roll out a server-side solution to address the issue that caused information about “incorrect date, time and time zone settings” to be displayed inappropriately, which also prevented the installation of the latest Insider Preview build from proceeding.”
