Optional update KB5017383 for Windows 11 21H2 was released today. This optional update is already available through Windows Update, but due to its optional nature, users can decide whether to install it based on their needs. However, the contents of this optional update will be integrated into the cumulative update that will be released on next month’s Patch Tuesday event day.
The KB5017383 update appears in Windows Update as “2022-09 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5017383) “After users confirm the download and installation, they will need to reboot the device to take effect. Users can also download the offline installer through the Update Catalog.
Microsoft introduced the “dynamic widgets” feature in Windows 11 KB5017383 (Build 22000.1042), which was previously exclusive to Windows 11 22H2, but is now backward compatible to 21H2. With dynamic widgets, Microsoft wants to make the taskbar more attractive with widget icons and regular updates.
The widget integrated into the taskbar should soon allow users to see financial market trading prices and other updates. And it still works in the same way: you will get the information directly on the taskbar, without even clicking on the icons. As you can see in the screenshot below, the taskbar will show live updates from the Sports and Finance widgets.
