Last month Microsoft started pushing the latest 22H2 version of Windows 11 to all users worldwide in batches. Not surprisingly, the 22H2 update is not perfect, and there has been a lot of feedback from users about bugs they have encountered recently.
For example, many users have reported that the update has failed with “error code 0x800f0806”. There are also a number of common issues, such as printer issues, where many users have installed the 2022 update with the message “No printer detected”. There is also an issue that causes the update to fail completely on affected devices.
Microsoft has now confirmed that there is an issue with copying files in the new version that is causing performance degradation, although this issue is mainly seen when using a Remote Desktop.
Today, Microsoft issued a warning to IT administrators responsible for deploying Windows updates on their organization’s systems. The company has discovered that the .pkg configuration for Windows 11 22H2 has been corrupted, which could lead to an incomplete, partially configured OOBE experience and even cause unexpected system reboots.
"Using the provisioning package on Windows 11, version 22H2 (also known as Windows 11 2022 Update) may not work as expected. Windows may only be partially configured and the out-of-the-box experience may not be complete or may reboot unexpectedly. Provisioning packages are. ppkg files that are used to help configure new devices for use on a business or school network. Provisioning packages applied during initial setup are most likely to be affected by this issue. Note: Windows devices provisioned with Windows Autopilot are not affected by this issue. Workaround: If you can pre-provision your Windows device before upgrading to Windows 11 version 22H2, this will prevent the issue from occurring."
Microsoft says that they are currently investigating the issue. More coverage will follow from IT House.
In addition to this, there are a number of other known issues:
- Some installed printers may only allow default settings: Some printers may not have all their available features, such as color, duplexing or higher resolution.
- Compatibility issues with Intel Smart Sound Technology drivers and Windows 11: Windows 11 devices with affected Intel SST drivers may receive blue screen errors.
- Copying files/shortcuts using Group Policy Preferences may not work as expected: Files or shortcuts may not copy or may copy as zero-byte files when using Group Policy Preferences on a client device.
- KB5012170 may not install and you may receive a 0x800f0922 error: The security update for Secure Boot DBX may not install.
