With the official launch of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra approaching, there are questions regarding its naming. Originally, this new flagship was to join the already existing Xiaomi 12 series. But its naming shown on its announcement official images proves otherwise.
When asked about the name change of the coming Xiaomi flagship device, CEO Lei Jun had something to say. He pointed to a few factors that affected the launch and naming of this device. Making his list of these factors is its processor choice and introduction of a new flagship line.
After the Xiaomi 12 series launch, netizens began hoping for an Ultra model just like that from last year. Xiaomi was indeed working on an Ultra model whose launch got delayed. This delay helped the company adopt the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.
After this adoption, a series of training went into motion to adopt this processor to Xiaomi and Leica’s expectations. Amid all this training process, Xiaomi began preparing a flagship S series. The Ultra model of the 12 series was to launch under the new S line that Xiaomi was preparing.
This is a new trend that the Chinese tech company will adopt with its future flagship series. The first batch of devices will launch in the first half of the year, while the S series will follow in the second half. The S series to launch this year will bring some devices along with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. All these devices will launch on the 4th of July and will bring Xiaomi’s new imaging system.
