Western Digital has announced that three of its 22TB high-capacity hard drives have officially shipped to the retail market, including WD Gold for enterprise and cloud computing, WD Red Pro Red for small business and home NAS network storage, and WD Purple Pro Purple for video surveillance. Now, one of the 22TB Red Disk (WD221KFGX) has hit the shelves, priced as high as $6,899.
This is also the first 22TB hard drive officially on sale in China.
Currently, WD Red Pro Red Disk with the same series 20TB 5999 yuan, 18TB 4659 yuan, 16TB 3959 yuan, 12TB 3029 yuan, 10TB 2659 yuan, 8TB 1859 yuan, 6TB 1359 yuan, 4TB 1059 yuan, 2TB 879 yuan.
The Western Digital 22TB Red Disk is a standard 3.5-inch form factor with SATA 6Gbps interface, CMR traditional magnetic recording technology, 10-disk set, 2.2TB single-disk capacity, 7200PRM speed, and 512MB cache.
As a NAS dedicated drive, it supports 24-hour non-stop operation, 3D Active Balance Plus, NASware 300 technology for error recovery and reliability, multi-axis vibration sensors for automatic detection and correction of minor vibrations, and dynamic head flight height technology for read/write adjustment.
It can build up to 24 disks, which means the maximum capacity of a single system is up to 528TB.
The annual write capacity is 300TB, with an average time between failures of 1 million hours and a 5-year warranty.
