Volvo EX90 electric SUV will make world premiere on November 9, new car interior announced

The Volvo EX90 electric SUV will make its world premiere on November 9. The new car is also based on the Volvo SPA2 platform as the Polestar 3. Volvo officials today revealed part of the interior of the new-generation flagship electric car EX90.

In terms of interior, the new car adopts a brand-new design style. The three-spoke steering wheel is combined with a narrow-bar LCD instrument (which can display driving-related information, such as speed, cruising range, navigation route, etc.) and a vertical large-size central control screen. The car looks very tech-savvy. At the same time, the through-type air-conditioning outlet increases the visual layering in the car.

Judging from the preview image, the Volvo EX90 cockpit has eliminated a lot of physical buttons, and this interior design style is derived from the Volvo Recharge concept car.

According to the previous appearance patent drawing, the new car can be regarded as an oversized pure electric XC60 model, which still maintains a relatively square style, but adopts a new model in the first two such as the headlight group shape and the unique ring taillights at the rear of the car. In addition, behind the D-pillar, the left and right sides of the rear windshield still seem to retain the longitudinal light strips, which are in a split design. The overall effect after lighting is quite worth looking forward to.

From the previous warm-up content, it can be seen that Volvo’s pure electric flagship SUV EX90 will adopt the next-generation Volvo technology, equipped with full-stack self-developed software + Luminar lidar + DUS driver perception system.

The new car will also be equipped with a DUS dual-camera driver perception system, which consists of a capacitive steering wheel and two cameras, which can obtain driver status information and integrate it with automatic driving algorithms. When the driver’s attention is no longer focused on driving and support is needed, the vehicle will step in and use external sensors to make safe driving decisions (such as reducing speed, lane keeping or even braking the vehicle).

Volvo officials also confirmed a new feature of the EX90: two-way charging. Also known as V2L (vehicle-to-load), the feature allows the vehicle to power anything from camping appliances to your real home.

In another similar video released earlier, Volvo also revealed another feature of the EX90, the in-car radar, designed to detect the presence of people (or pets) in the car, with the aim of preventing fatalities caused by overheating in the car. The system activates when the vehicle is locked and is sensitive enough to detect a sleeping child.

The exterior of the EX90 will also be equipped with 16 ultrasonic sensors, 5 radars and 8 cameras, and will have advanced autonomous driving and safety features. Given that the car will be Volvo’s flagship product, new and innovative safety features are expected to be introduced, making it the safest car the brand has ever built.
