Volvo Cars global sales exceed 700,000 vehicles in 2023, reaching record high

Volvo Cars recently announced that the company’s global car sales in 2023 will be 708,716 vehicles, a record high, a year-on-year increase of 15%.

Among them, Volvo sold 113,419 pure electric vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 70%; plug-in hybrid vehicles sold 152,561 units, a year-on-year increase of 10%. In 2023, Volvo sold 170,091 vehicles in the Chinese market, a year-on-year increase of 5%; sales in the United States were 128,701 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 26%; sales in Europe were 294,794 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 19%.

It can be seen that Volvo’s pure electric vehicles have achieved substantial growth in the past year, which is also related to the company’s transformation into the new energy field.

According to previous reports, Volvo is one of the first automakers in the world to announce that it will fully implement electric transformation in 2030. As early as 2021, Volvo Chief Technology Officer Henrik Green asserted: “There is no long-term future for fuel-engine cars.”

Volvo Cars CEO Jim Rowan said in an interview with Automotive News that consumers like to drive electric vehicles and charging at home is a big advantage for them. He believes Volvo is “on the right track” and is on track to become fully electrified by 2030.

By 2025, Volvo expects to sell 1.2 million cars, half of which will be fully electric, as it moves toward its goal of becoming a fully electric carmaker.
