The German electric car rental company Nextmove found potential problems with the high-voltage battery packs of the Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 SUVs. Therefore, the Volkswagen Group responded to the report. Volkswagen is said to want the roughly 10,000 owners involved in the incident to take their vehicles to a local service center for processing.
Volkswagen said the battery cells of these electric vehicles may have a manufacturing defect that caused them to “show increased self-discharge.” The vehicles in question are about 10,130 Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 produced in 2020, and they are limited to the European market, and Volkswagen’s related models in other markets will not have this problem.
Volkswagen says inspections and repairs will take about two business days, and dealers will provide users with vehicles for rent and/or free pickup.
Volkswagen said that dealers will be responsible for the after-sales repairs and will notify affected users and advise them to make an appointment to the store for inspection as soon as possible. If there is a problem with the vehicle’s battery module, the dealer will replace it free of charge.
It is worth noting that whether the user’s vehicle is affected is determined through data obtained from the customer’s previous diagnosis at the dealership. That is to say, if there is a problem, you will be contacted. If the dealer does not contact you, it means that it is not affected by the recall.
