A spokesman for Volkswagen said that the company has stopped all paid activity on Twitter, pending further notice, Reuters reported.
Earlier this month, following Elon Musk’s takeover of the Twitter platform, Volkswagen said it had advised its brands to suspend paid advertising on the social media platform until further notice.
The Volkswagen Group owns brands such as Volkswagen, Skoda, Jetta, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche, Ducati, Scania and MAN.
A Volkswagen spokeswoman noted that all brands have followed this advice, while Audi has chosen to stop activities such as direct postings and only answer customers’ questions on its website.
German weekly Wirtschaftswoche has cited sources familiar with the matter as saying that Audi has stopped all activity on Twitter. In an emailed statement, an Audi spokesperson added: “We are closely monitoring the developments and will decide on our next steps in light of the developments.” Audi previously tweeted almost daily, but has not tweeted since Nov. 1. Just at the end of October, Elon Musk took over Twitter.
