Vivo’s next-gen imaging flagship to feature larger CMOS, 5X+ telephoto and 50mm portrait lenses

On October 24, at the Vivo imaging strategy conference this afternoon, Vivo officially announced its future layout in imaging.

Vivo said it will grasp two strategic pivot points, namely joint innovation (Zeiss joint R&D and industry joint development) and independent innovation (self-researched chips and self-researched algorithms), to create humanized professional images. Excellent basic imaging will be achieved through four major imaging technology engines, including the Optical Perception System, Perfect Colour Restoration Engine, Ultra-clear Picture Quality Engine and Arithmetic Acceleration Engine.

vivo has revealed that the next generation of products will be equipped with a larger CMOS with 77% more light sensitivity than the Samsung GNV in the Vivo X80 Pro, which is expected to be the Vivo X90 series. The new CMOS will be a 1-inch Sony IMX989, according to rumours.

In addition, the next generation will feature the “Night Dome System”, which trains three super-sensitive models based on millions of night shots, increasing light sensitivity by up to 100 per cent, with ISO up to 102400.

In terms of telephoto, Vivo’s next generation will also feature a 5X+ focal length lens, which theoretically improves shooting resolution by up to 64%.

In terms of portraits, Vivo’s next generation of products will feature the “Super Sensitive Portrait System” with a new 50mm portrait lens, which will provide micron-level detailing through portrait understanding + portrait beautification + portrait ambience. In addition, the front-facing soft selfie will be upgraded with an autofocus lens and micro slit dual soft light.

The Vivo has also announced its next-generation self-published chip (no indication of whether it is V2), which has been upgraded from a traditional ISP architecture to an AI-ISP architecture that combines the advantages of AI and ISP to achieve a data throughput rate of 1.3 trillion bits/s, an ultra-high energy efficiency ratio of 16.3 Tops/w and a 20% improvement in night video noise reduction.
