A new member in the BBK subsidiary’s Y-series, the Vivo Y22, has hit the Indonesian market. This device finds a balance between performance (at least on paper) and pricing. Vivo has done a great job with the design of this device, as well as other devices in its series. There are a few things that make this device stand out from other devices in the mid-range smartphone market.

Just like with other devices in the Vivo Y-series, this one comes with the option for RAM extension to give users more power if there is a need for such. This device comes with a MediaTek Helio processor with certain performance enhancement features. Vivo also makes some strong claims about the camera abilities of this device, here are its basic specifications:

  • Storage: 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB ROM (with availability for RAM extension).

  • Front Camera: 8MP front-facing camera.
  • Battery: 5000mAh battery with 18W Fast charge.
  • Operating System: Funtouch OS 12 running on Android 12.
  • Biometrics: Side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

When it comes to this device’s design, it uses a flat edge design, which aids with gripping. The device is also splash and water and dustproof, making it durable. It also comes with some optimization features to aid games to run smoother on the MediaTek processor.

This device is currently available for pre-order in Indonesia and will make its way to other regions in the coming months. It comes in three-colour options Starlit Blue, Summer Cyan, and Metaverse Green. The retail price for this device is 2,399,000 Indonesian Rupiah (~$161) for the 4GB/64GB storage variant.
