Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform in November this year. A couple of smartphone OEMs are expected to soon launch SD8G2-powered devices later this year. The Xiaomi 13 series featuring the new chip may go official as early as November. The OnePlus 11 Pro 5G, powered by the same chip, may debut by the end of 2022. Vivo too is said to be working on the Vivo X90 series featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. A Chinese tipster has revealed what to expect from what appears to be the Vivo X90 Pro.
According to the tipster, the Vivo X90 Pro will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and will carry support for 100W fast charging. The leak states that it will pack a large battery but does not mention its exact size.
He further revealed that the Vivo X90 Pro’s rear camera setup will be headlined by a 1-inch camera. However, it is unclear whether it will house the same Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor that is available on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. Lastly, the new leak mentions that the camera setup will include a periscope zoom lens.

In comparison, the Vivo X80 Pro was made available in Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Dimensity 9000 chipset variants in China. It has a 4,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. Its rear camera setup has a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
While it’s not mentioned in the leak, the Vivo X90 Pro may inherit the 6.78-inch display, which was made available on the X80 Pro. It is an AMOLED panel with LTPO 3 technology, which supports Quad HD+ resolution and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The X90 Pro is likely to run on the Android 13 OS with the OriginOS UI on top.
