Vivo X Fold+ launched with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor; specifications, price

Brushing up its foldable device line, the BBK subsidiary has released their new entry, the Vivo X Fold+ which upgrades a few features of their previous foldable device. At a glance, the most noticeable change with this new foldable device is the addition of a new red colour option. The overall design of this new device in comparison with its predecessor remains unchanged.

Most upgrades for the new X Fold+ are internal, such as a change in processor, battery capacity, and charging speed. The manufacturer also stepped up the software capabilities of its new foldable device to better optimize applications to better fit the large folding screen. Let us now take a look at the specifications of this new foldable device.

  • Screen: 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED HDR10+ screen with 120Hz refresh rate and a 6.53-inch AMOLED cover screen supporting 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. 
  • Storage: 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB storage options.
  • Main Camera: Triple setup with a 50MP wide camera, 8MP periscope camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera.
  • Front Camera: 16MP front-facing camera.
  • Battery: 4730mAh battery with 80W fast charge.
  • Operating System: Origin OS Ocean, running on Android 12.
  • Biometrics: Under display optical fingerprint sensor.

The design of this new foldable stays the same as the design we see on its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold. The upgrade in the processor will help this new foldable compete with more recent entries into the foldable market like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. With some upgrades to the software on this new foldable, Vivo is assuring customers of better usability of multiple applications on either screen.

Although this device was launched in China, it will make its way to other regions such as Europe. The available colours on this new foldable device are Sunny Mountain Blue, Sycamore Ash, and the new Huaxia Red. It will retail for 9,999 Yuan (~$1,394) for the 12GB/256GB storage option while the 12GB/512GB option will retail for 10,999 Yuan (~$1,534).
