visionOS beta hints that Apple will upgrade the Vision Pro film library to 3D

Apple demonstrated the Apple Vision Pro headset at the Worldwide Developers Conference in 2023, and later provided some media reporters with a hands-on experience of playing 3D movies. Recently, some testers found that the “Play 3D” option appeared in the TV application in Apple’s visionOS 1.0 Beta 2 system, which may mean that Apple will upgrade their movie library for free for users, allowing them to watch 3D versions of movies.

It is noticed that Apple demonstrated the effect of 3D movies at the press conference, but did not elaborate on how 3D movies will be provided. Further reports later revealed that the Apple TV+ original series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” has been produced in 3D. There are also less credible claims that all Apple TV+ shows will be available in 180-degree VR.

The picture is an imaginary picture

Now tester Steve Moser found the words “Play 3D” in the code of Apple’s Vision Pro’s TV app. He shared the discovery on Twitter and speculated that Apple may upgrade users’ movie libraries to 4K versions as before. Similarly, upgrade the user’s movies to 3D version.

Of course, everything is just speculation at the moment, and we have to wait for Apple’s official news.
