Vietnamese automaker VinFast is looking to hire another 8,000 employees for its electric vehicle plant in Vietnam. The company is currently ramping up production to deliver its first all-electric SUV to U.S. consumers by the end of this year. VinFast, part of Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest conglomerate, currently employs 6,000 people.
Announcing on its Facebook account that it will be hiring for its plant in Haiphong, Vietnam, the company said, “The new hiring is to increase production capacity. The new employees (including assembly line workers, technicians and engineers) will be on board between August and September.”

The current Haiphong plant has an annual capacity of 250,000 units, and VinFast previously said they expect to increase the plant’s capacity to 600,000 units by 2026.
In March, VinFast announced that it would build a new plant in North Carolina, with an expected initial capacity of 150,000 vehicles. The company said the plant will create 7,500 jobs in the area.
VinFast also said it expects to sell 750,000 electric vehicles per year by 2026. The company’s first models to hit the market will be the VF8 and VF9 all-electric SUVs, and the new vehicles will be built in Vietnam and sold in the United States and Europe.
The company revealed that it has already received close to 8,000 orders in the U.S. and expects to export the VF8 from Vietnam to the U.S. for delivery to U.S. customers by the end of this year.
