Valve released the Proton 8.0-4 update today, two and a half months after the last version update, bringing more Windows games to Linux players.
This new version mainly brings games including “Legend of King Arthur”, “Chaos Code-NEW SIGN OF CATASTROPHE-“, “EverQuest II”, “Strange World: Wrath of the Stranger”, “Song of Heroes: Definitive Edition” , “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II” and “The Longest Journey” and other games.
The Proton 8.0-4 update also optimizes “Wish You a Happy Death”, “Resident Evil 4 (2005)”, “Fantasy”, “Scrap Mechanic”, “Overwatch 2”, “Baldur’s Gate 3” , “Street Fighter 6” and so on.
Proton 8.0-4 can run more games that were previously only possible with Proton Experimental: EverQuest 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, The Longest Journey, and more.
Proton 8.0-4 also fixes Battle.net constantly updating itself, EA Desktop software showing a blank login screen after recent updates, “Baldur’s Gate 3” launcher sometimes showing error dialogs, fixes for some Unreal Engine 4 games, NVIDIA NVAPI Issues have now been updated.
Note: Proton 8.0-4 also introduces Wine Mono 8.0.1, VKD3D-Proton 2.10, DXVK 2.3.5, DXVK-NVAPI 0.6.4 and other related software updates.
