VAIO president: plans to relaunch the P series pocket notebook

The president of Japanese notebook brand VAIO, Masaki Yamano, recently revealed in an interview in Tokyo that the company will invest in pocket PC product design, replicating the classic model “VAIO P” and adding new features aimed at attracting more consumers. Masaki Yamano said that VAIO hopes to double its PC business, which has been stagnant for the past two years, with the new war.

In the interview, VAIO’s president Masaki Yamano emphasized the idea that the value of the brand lies in setting the trend of the times, and he hopes that VAIO will create tools that enhance human capabilities.

The “VAIO P” is a pocket-sized laptop that VAIO launched in 2009. At the time, the concept of “netbook” (netbook) was very popular to describe a small laptop with a small size, good portability and simplified functionality.

The “VAIO P” was known for its slim and compact body. The commercials even showed the VAIO P tucked into the back pocket of jeans to demonstrate its excellent portability, thus creating a sensation at the time of its launch. However, soon after the launch, Apple launched the iPad tablet, causing the netbook market to shrink and eventually be swallowed up by tablets.
