AirPods, MagSafe Battery Pack, Apple accessories to switch to USB-C in future: Kuo

It was only a week ago, that famed market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made the claim of Apple replacing the Lightning port in favor of the USB-C on the iPhone 15. Kuo has been proven to be a reliable source as his predictions often come true. Last week’s prediction tweet was nothing less. Now, he has posted a follow-up to the said tweet, claiming that the accessories like AirPods, the MagSafe Battery Pack, and the Magic Keyboard/Mouse/Trackpad will also get the same treatment in the future.

Both the iPhone and the mentioned accessories use Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector at the moment for charging and data transfer. A switch would be a big step for Apple towards universal connectivity standards and safety regulations. A lot of products are already using USB-C as a standard-issue; namely the Android smartphones and even the latest range of Apple MacBooks and iPads.

In the tweet, Kuo also talked about the possibility of a postless iPhone. But he stated that it is still too early for Apple to release an iPhone without ports, mainly due to the limitations of the wireless technology. There’s also the fact that Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem is still blooming and it is yet to reach its maturity.
