US sanction on Huawei and other Chinese technology companies will be eased

After years of the US sanction on Huawei, the tech giant can finally get a breath of fresh air. This new development will give Huawei as well as other Chinese businesses under the US blacklist some breathing space. But why will the US track back on the sanctions on the Chinese companies on their blacklist?

The US sanction on Huawei and other Chinese businesses is due to claims that they are security risks. But easing off the sanctions on a “security risk” is not a wise move, except it benefits the other party. This is the position the US government finds itself in. Ever since the US government ban on Huawei, China has put in place certain majors that stiffen the industry from external standards.

These majors have left the likes of the US out of participation in standards-related activities, giving Chinese companies more control. Hence, the Chinese government is playing a bigger role in the setting of industry standards, and this doesn’t favour the US government. To attain a reputable position in the industry, the US government is moving to ease off the sanctions on Chinese technology manufacturing companies like Huawei.

What might the easing of the US sanction on Huawei and other Chinese firms mean? On the part of Huawei, it might mean that it will gain access to 5G equipment and other necessary tools to grow its global presence again. Possible if all things are even we might begin to see a bit of Huawei on the international market again, hence improving the competition.
