According to Mark Gurman, the iPadOS 16 will bring a big design overhaul to the iPad with its update. In his words, “people with knowledge of the matter” claim that this update will make the iPad more of a laptop. In next week’s WWDC event we expect to see updates to devices within the Apple ecosystem including the iPad.

With newer generations of the iPad, we continue to see the line that tells the difference between a tablet and a laptop shrink. In addition to the iPad, buyers have the option to also purchase a keyboard. This accessory helps improve productivity with the iPad, users can comfortably type and edit documents without their laptops. But, the major hindrance to most iPad users has been the iPadOS software.

Basic activities like multitasking split screens and resizing windows have not been working properly. With this update from Mark Gurman, Apple might have a fix for the iPad. This fix will surface with the iPadOS 16 that’ll be official next week. This update might be similar to what we saw on the Android 12L from last year. This update optimized Android 12 for larger screens like tablets and as well improved most features.

Considering the power that the latest iPad models pack, users will expect this device to multitask better. Housing the power of the M1 processor makes the iPad as powerful as a MacBook, but in software, it lacks a lot. The iOS 16 update will improve the software capability of iPads and make them more of a laptop.
