According to the New York Times, Microsoft plans to complete the $69 billion Blizzard acquisition despite the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) blocking it last December on antitrust grounds.
Microsoft is optimistic that the Blizzard acquisition will be approved by UK regulators, and has made significant progress in recent weeks, sources close to the situation said. The UK’s Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA) is expected to approve Microsoft’s Blizzard acquisition later this week.
If Microsoft gets the backing of both the CMA and FTC regulators, the company plans to close the deal for $95 per share (currently about RMB 658 ), sources said.
According to one trader’s forecast, Activision’s $85.63 (currently around RMB 593) share price is expected to rise to around $95 on Tuesday if Microsoft moves to complete the acquisition. If the company decides to abandon it, it could fall to around $75 (currently around RMB 520).
