Twitter’s $8 Blue V certification payment system is about to be launched

Twitter updated its app in the Apple App Store on Saturday to begin supporting an $8 fee for Blue V certification, the first major revision to the platform since Elon Musk bought Twitter.

In an update to the iOS version, Twitter said users who “sign up now” for $7.99 per month (currently about $58) can receive a blue checkmark next to their username, which will be rolled out in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The blue check mark next to the user name means that Twitter confirms that the account belongs to the person or company claiming it, and it’s unclear how Twitter plans to verify the user’s identity beyond the fee.

Official Twitter personnel say the new Blue V certification is not yet online and is currently in the final sprint and is testing and advancing changes in real-time and is expected to be launched soon.

In addition, Elon Musk said that Twitter will soon go live with the ability to attach long text to tweets, so no longer will you have to attach long screenshots to your tweets.
