Twitter was exposed to ban negative Tesla ads

Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter can be said to be the most concerning thing in the global technology circle recently. Elon Musk has previously stated that he wants to build Twitter into a public platform with maximum trust and broad tolerance, but the fact does not seem to be so. A Tesla critic has accused Twitter of rejecting anti-Tesla ads from his safety advocacy group for violating its “political” advertising policies, media reported.

Elon Musk and his Twitter

The anti-Tesla advocacy group, called the Dawn Project, was founded by software developer Dan O’Dowd. The group claimed that it had hoped to promote a tweet to promote its ad criticizing Tesla’s FSD’s self-driving feature, but was rejected by Twitter. Screenshots provided by the group show that Twitter believes the tweet violated the company’s policy on “political” ads.

Dan O’Dowd keeps tweeting against Tesla FSD

The ad rejection is a disturbing sign. “The inability to promote content critical of Elon Musk’s Tesla’s FSD software calls into question his commitment to free speech,” O’Dowd said in a statement. However, Twitter wrote on its support page: “Twitter prohibits the promotion of political content globally. We made this decision because we believe that the spread of political information should be earned on its own, not purchased.”

It is understood that the “Dawn Project” has always been skeptical about the safety of Tesla’s autopilot function. In August this year, Tesla issued a prohibition letter to the “Dawn Project”, asking it to remove the special feature posted on YouTube. Video of Sla Motors rolling over child-sized mannequins. The video has now been removed from Project Dawn’s YouTube homepage. Currently. Tweets about ads are still displayed normally, but Project Dawn was unable to promote them, resulting in limited engagement rates.

The announcement of Project Dawn raises questions about Twitter’s impartiality, especially since it happened shortly after Elon Musk started tweeting, and it’s hard not to wonder if Elon Musk had any influence on Twitter’s actions. Due to Elon Musk’s entry, many large auto companies such as General Motors, Jeep, and Volkswagen have suspended paid advertisements on Twitter, hoping to further observe the movements of the new leadership. Meanwhile, Elon Musk tweeted that while Twitter’s user growth was at an “all-time high,” its ad revenue had suffered a “substantial” drop.
