The Nanzhi Industrial Park in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan Province of China, will start construction on August 7, and TSMC has completed the contract to set up a factory.
The Economic Development Bureau said today (5) that TSMC is the only manufacturer stationed in the Nanzhi Industrial Park, and the groundbreaking of the park also represents the factory entering the construction phase, completing the key puzzle of the industrial chain, and Kaohsiung will become a global semiconductor research and development and manufacturing center.
According to the Taiwan media “Economic Daily News” reported that the relevant departments of Taiwan, China, TSMC is the only resident manufacturer in Nanzhi Industrial Park, the park groundbreaking also represents the factory to enter the construction phase, complete the key puzzle of the industry chain, Kaohsiung will become a global semiconductor R & D and manufacturing center.
It is reported that after the start of construction, the Nanzhi Park will enter substantive development and is expected to operate in 2024, which will initially increase at least 1,500 jobs and an annual output of NT$157.6 billion, transforming Kaohsiung from a heavy industry into a semiconductor high-tech smart city.
TSMC previously planned to set up a fab in Kaohsiung to produce 7nm and 28nm process, which will start mass production in 2024.
