According to Taiwan media, Central News Agency reported that TSMC 3 nanometer (N3) mass production in the fourth quarter of last year, the upgraded 3 nanometers (N3E) process will be mass produced in the third quarter of this year, 3 nanometers and upgraded 3 nanometers is expected to contribute about 4% to 6% of revenue this year.
At TSMC’s online corporate presentation this afternoon, TSMC President Wei Zhejia said that TSMC’s 7nm and 6nm capacity utilization is no longer at the high point of the past three years due to the downturn in the PC and smartphone markets, as well as the impact of inventory adjustment by customers, and is expected to take several quarters to adjust.
TSMC 3 nanometer mass production in the fourth quarter of last year, 2023 will be full capacity production. Wei Zhejia revealed that the upgraded 3nm process will be mass-produced in the third quarter of this year.
According to Wei, 3nm and upgraded 3nm will contribute a mid-single-digit percentage (about 4% to 6%) of revenue this year, and the revenue contribution will be higher than that of 5nm in the first year of mass production, and the number of customer product designs will be more than 2 times that of 5nm.
According to the data, TSMC achieved revenue of NT$226.389 billion (approximately RMB 502.584 billion) from January to December 2022, up 42.6% year-over-year.
