TSMC this morning in Tainan Science Park held 3-nanometer mass production and expansion ceremony, officially announcing the launch of 3-nanometer mass production.
According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, TSMC Chairman Liu Deyin said that Wafer Fab 18 is TSMC’s 5nm and 3nm production town, with a total investment of NT$1.86 trillion (about RMB422.22 billion), and is expected to create 11,300 direct high-tech jobs.
According to Taiwan Economic Daily, Liu Deyin said the 3nm process yield is comparable to that of 5nm mass production and is the world’s most advanced semiconductor technology, which is used in the cloud, high-speed network and mobile devices, and the market demand is very strong.
According to Liu Deyin, compared with 5 nanometers, 3-nanometer process logic density increased by 60%, and at the same speed, power consumption was reduced by 30% to 35%. It is expected that the contribution to revenue after 3nm mass production will be greater than the 5nm contribution in the same period, and 3nm mass production will release $1.5 trillion (about RMB 10.47 trillion) in end product value within 5 years.
