According to Taiwan Economic Daily, TSMC held a 3nm mass production expansion ceremony in Tainan Science Park this morning, and Chairman Liu Deyin delivered a speech.

Taiwan media pointed out that today for TSMC South 3 nanometer mass production and the eighth phase of the wafer 18 plant on the beam expansion. Deyin Liu said that TSMC has invested more than NT$1 trillion in Nanke, and the second phase of construction in the United States is also underway simultaneously to strengthen trust with customers.

Liu Deyin stressed the continued deep investment in Taiwan and revealed in advance that TSMC’s Hsinchu R&D center will be opened in the second quarter of next year, with 8,000 personnel expected to move in. In addition, TSMC 2nm is expected to be put into production in Hsinchu and Taichung, with a total of six phases of construction.

Liu Deyin said that the 3nm process yield is comparable to the 5nm yield in mass production. Compared with 5 nanometers, 3-nanometer process logic density increased by 60%, and at the same speed, power consumption was reduced by 30% to 35%.
