TrendForce Tiburon Consulting today released a report, that said the global VR device shipments in 2022 were about 8.58 million units, down 5.3% year-on-year. Mainly due to the high inflation impact on the end market consumer power, brand manufacturers delayed or did not launch new products, as well as Meta pricing strategy adjustment.
The report points out that, benefiting from the introduction of new products such as Sony PS VR2 and Meta Quest 3, VR device shipments are expected to rebound to 10.35 million units in 2023, up 20.6% year-on-year.
TrendForce TrendForce said that it is expected that Quest Pro will only ship a maximum of 250,000 units this year. It will not resume significant growth until Quest 3 is launched in 2023. It is estimated that Shipments in 2023 will be about 7.25 million units.
As for Sony, the report said that the total shipment of Sony PS VR2 is expected to be about 1.6 million units in 2023, which is one of the main forces driving the VR equipment market.
