Toshiba recently announced its 2022 annual financial report, with an annual operating income of 3,361.7 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 0.7%; operating profit of 110.5 billion yen, a year-on-year decrease of 30.5%; net profit of 126.6 billion yen, a year-on-year decrease of 35%. Toshiba Chief Financial Officer Masahiro Hirata said at the briefing that the decline in profits was mainly due to the sharp fluctuations in the HDD hard disk market and the pressure on Toshiba’s HDD-related storage business.
Toshiba also said that due to the uncertainty of the HDD market in 2023, sales revenue in 2023 is expected to decline by 4% to 5% year-on-year, and net profit will drop to 110 billion yen.
