The new all-electric A110-Eternite is Alpine’s way of celebrating the original car’s 60th anniversary

The new Alpine A110 Eternite

The first Alpine A110 has launched 60 years ago. Now its 60th anniversary coincides with this year’s Formula One French Grand Prix. So, the French sports car maker wants to celebrate it by introducing a successor to the Alpine A110 that would be a purpose-built performance car. The company plans to bring forth the all-new Alpine A110 E-ternite, an all-electric model and the company’s first-ever.

But if the car is provided with a removable roof, or at least the central part of the roof that comes off, it no longer is just a sports car, but also a convertible. So, in addition to being the company’s first electric car, it is also its first-ever convertible.

Alpine A110 Eternite: Specifications

What replaces the 1.8-liter turbocharged engines would be a single electric motor on its rear axle. The motor has been borrowed from its parent company’s new Renault Megane E-Tech Electric. The motor can draw a might of 239 horsepower and would yield torque of 221 lb-ft. The car would attain a peak speed of 155 mph and can race from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.5 seconds. The heavy 392kg battery pack adds up an additional 258 kilograms of weight to the model. Yet, the total weight is just 1,378 kg which qualifies the car as the lightest EV on the market.

Alpine promises that its new electric version of the A110 is packed with the same performance, balance, and agility as its petrol-powered version. While there seem to be no plans to put the E-ternite into production, the company wants it to serve as a showcase of what lies ahead with Alpine’s future models.
