Recently, we learned from the official that the Chinese name of Kia Sonet, a small SUV owned by Kia, is officially named “Sonet”. According to previous news, the car is expected to be launched at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. Kia Sonet is jointly developed and designed by Kia Motors India and Kia’s global R&D headquarters in South Korea. It was previously positioned as a model exclusively for India and other regions.
In terms of appearance, the new car adopts the latest styling style of the Kia brand and incorporates Kia’s new “Bold & Wild” design concept. The narrow-striped front grille and 7-shaped light clusters create a sense of fashion. At the same time, the trapezoidal design of the air intake below also appropriately increases the sportiness of the vehicle. Of course, the new brand LOGO is also hung on the front edge of the engine compartment cover to create a sense of refinement.
At the rear, the new car uses a Star-Map star map LED light set, and has a vertical shape design on both sides. Together with the black plastic anti-scratch guard at the lower rear bumper, it enriches the visual layering. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4110/1790/1625mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2500mm. In terms of body color, Sonai has 5 body colors: pearl white, aurora black, olive green, pearl white (black top/two colors), and leaping red (black top/two colors). In terms of wheels, the new car will provide 16-inch wheels.
Although the positioning is relatively entry-level, it still adopts a family-style interior design. The dual-screen design can enhance the sense of class in the car. In addition, a small number of physical buttons are retained below the central control screen, which can adjust the multimedia and air-conditioning systems. At the same time, the air-conditioning outlet, which is similar to a rounded rectangle, also appropriately enhances the youthfulness of the vehicle. In terms of intelligent configuration, Kia Sonai will be equipped with L2 intelligent driving assistance system.
In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine model G4FL produced by Jiangsu Yueda Kia Motors Co., Ltd., with a maximum power of 84.7 kilowatts. In terms of transmission, the new car is expected to be equipped with a CVT gearbox.
