It was reported that Tesla announced that the company had officially launched a new large-scale factory project in Shanghai with an annual output of 10,000 Megapack fixed battery banks. A land acquisition signing ceremony for the project was held in Shanghai on the morning of the 22nd, marking the official launch of what the company called a “milestone project.”
On April 9 this year, Tesla’s energy storage super factory project landed in Shanghai. The factory will plan to produce Tesla’s ultra-large commercial energy storage batteries (Megapack). At present, the Megapack system has been put into practical use in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries to cope with the shortage of traditional fossil energy.
Previous reports have shown that Tesla’s energy storage super factory project initially plans to produce up to 10,000 commercial energy storage batteries per year, with an energy storage scale of nearly 40GWh, and its supply range will radiate to the global market.
It is reported that Megapack can reliably and safely store energy for the grid, eliminating the need to build natural gas peaking power plants and avoiding power outages. Each unit can store more than 3MWh of energy, enough to meet the electricity needs of 3,600 households for one hour.
